Technological value-added chain based on microbial multisensory modular systems for flexible lab-on-a-chip platforms
The main project objective is the development of a technological value-added chain based
on a lab-on-a-chip platform that is primarily intended for emerging food risks but it has wider
applicabilty including public health monitoring. The platform comprises a multisensory
modular system for pre-concentration/sample preparation, rapid identification, quantification
and viability tests of microbial contaminants. All these subsystems may be used in a chain or
separately depending on specific tasks of particular analysis, thus each step adds new value
to the analysis. Realisation of the project will permit to have rapid and easy to use bacterial
detection methods for e.g.: E. coli, Salmonella, Streptococcus, Clostridium, able to respond
within a few hours or even minutes.
